Profile
Chang-Jae LEE is an associate professor of international trade law & practice at Chosun University.
Professor Lee focuses his scholarship, teaching, and practice on finding solutions to some of
international trade and transport law and regulation issues, among other things, aiming to increase
level of consumer protection in aviation industry. He studies and teaches a range of international
business transaction law courses including international trade contract, aviation and marine
insurance, international commercial law and practice, and alternative dispute resolutions in
international business. He has published a number of scholarly articles covering various issues
in these areas.
Before joining the esteemed faculty at Chosun University, Professor Lee accumulated over a decade of invaluable hands-on experience in the dynamic fields of international trade and transport law. With a distinguished career in the industry, he successfully navigated a wide array of complex legal and operational challenges, which broadened his expertise both legally and practically. This extensive field experience has not only deepened his understanding of transport issues but also significantly enhanced his ability to bridge the gap between real-world practices and academic theory. Driven by this unique blend of practical insight and scholarly ambition, Professor Lee is dedicated to advancing the intersection of theory and practice in his academic pursuits.
He received his B.A. which was his first law degree from Sungkyunkwan University.
He had two LL.M. degrees in Air & Space Law from Korea Aerospace University and
in Admiralty & Maritime Law from Tulane University Law School. The tile of his Ph.D. thesis
from Sungkyunkwan University was “A study on the Operator’s Legal Liability in Transportation
& Logistics Law”.
He currently holds the distinguished position of Director and serves as a respected member of the Editorial Board for several prestigious academic societies, which oversee the publication of the most prominent and influential journals in Korea.
