Assignment of Academic Advisor (Advisory committee) and Entry into the System
Assignment of academic advisor
- Eligibility: Current students in the first semester of Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs
- Period: during the first semester of Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs (prior to the beginning of the second semester)
- How to assign: Students shall consult their department head to assign academic advisor(s) in consideration of their major field of study.
Entry of academic advisor (advisory committee) into the system (by academic advisor)
- Information to enter: Information on advisory committee and associated students
※In the advisory committee, Master's degree students can assign up to two advisory committee members in their field of study, while doctoral degree students can assign up to two advisory committee members under their concentration. - Period to enter: During the first semester of Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs
- How to enter: Comprehensive Information System for Professors → Education → Student Management → Registration of academic advisor and advisory committee members → Search for student names and save the information

Change of academic advisor
- Period to change: Anytime when a change occurs
- How to change: Students intending to change their academic advisor shall submit a 'Change of Academic Advisor (Advisory Committee) Form' with their signature on the form and submit it to the Graduate School office.
※The 'Change of Academic Advisor (Advisory Committee) Form' can be found in the Forms section of the Graduate School homepage. - Search for academic advisor (advisory committee): Students can search for their academic advisors (advisory committee) as follows:
※Log in to 종합정보시스템 (Comprehensive Information System) (ID: Student ID number, P/W) → Academics / Search for basic information and change it
Submission of a Dissertation Proposal & Entry of Dissertation Review Summary
Submission of a dissertation proposal: Students shall submit a dissertation proposal to their academic advisor.
- Eligibility: Master's students: from the third semester; Doctorial students: from the fourth semester
※Those intending to submit a dissertation proposal shall have an assigned academic advisor (advisory committee) prior to their submission. - Submission period: In the semester prior to the semester when students intend to submit a dissertation
- Submission procedure: Students shall prepare a ‘Dissertation Proposal Form’ and submit it to their academic advisor.
※The 'Dissertation Proposal Form' can be found in the Forms section of the Graduate School homepage.
Entry of a dissertation review summary (by academic advisor(s))
- Eligibility: Master's students: from the third semester; Doctorial students: from the fourth semester
- Entry period: In the semester prior to the semester when students intend to submit a dissertation
- Entry procedures: Students shall prepare a dissertation proposal and submit it to their thesis academic advisor. Then the academic advisor will examine the proposal with the advisory committee, prepare a dissertation review summary and enter it into the Comprehensive Information System for Professors.
- Entry procedure: Log in to Comprehensive Information System for Professors→ Education → Comprehensive Examination Management & Research Dissertation Guidance → Register a dissertation review summary.
※A pop-up window to enter a dissertation review summary will appear after entering a student’s degree and ID number. - A registered dissertation proposal and review summary will be stored in their corresponding departments.
Change of a dissertation proposal: Whenever changes occur after a dissertation proposal is submitted.
- Change procedure: Students shall fill in a 'Dissertation Proposal Change Request Form' and submit it to their academic advisor.
- The academic advisor shall examine the request form with advisory committee, change the review summary, and upload the revised review summary in the system.
- Entry procedure for changes is the same as the procedure for entering a review summary to the system.
