Submission of degree dissertation
Students shall submit a degree dissertation to the Graduate School office within a designated period.
- Spring semester: Every April
- Fall semester: Every October

Eligibility of submitting degree dissertation

Doctoral degree ① Students shall have passed the primary Foreign Language Examination, the secondary Foreign Language Examination, and a Comprehensive Examination. ② Students shall have completed or be expected to complete at least 36 credits from courses related to their field of study with a GPA of at least 3.0. ※ Students in the Integrated Master's and Doctoral Degree Program must complete at least 60 credits with a GPA of at least 3.0. ③ Students shall have taken or be taking the Dissertation Research course. ④ Students shall have fulfilled the research achievements requirements. |

※Research achievements requirements
① Students admitted in and before 2008
Students shall have earned 100% or higher according to the table below by publishing their research paper in journals of four-year universities, research institutes, or other high-level of academic journals since they are admitted or transferred to a Doctoral Degree Program. However, in the fields of Art and Sports, this requirement may be replaced by other achievements such as presentations and exhibitions. The specific assessment standard for each publication shall be determined by each department.

② Students admitted in and after 2009
Students shall have earned 60% or higher according to the Graduate School Publication Grading Table by publishing their research since they are admitted or transferred to a Doctoral Degree Program; the research shall indicate that the copyright to the thesis belongs to Chosun University; in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, and Medical Sciences, students shall have more than one published dissertation in registered (candidate) journals of the National Research Foundation of Korea or other high-level journals.

| 2 | Appointment of Members of Dissertation Examination Committee (under the supervision of Department Chair and academic advisors) |
•A Dissertation Examination committee for Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs shall be composed of at least three members and five members including the committee chair, respectively. ※ A student’s academic advisor shall be a member of the committee but cannot be the committee chair. ※ Doctoral students admitted in and after 2010 shall appoint at least one but no more than two external examiner. ① The committee members shall be full-time faculty members or authorities in the fields of study concerned. ② The Doctoral degree dissertation committee members shall be full-time faculty members holding a Doctoral degree. ③ More than half of the committee members shall have majored in the same discipline as the candidate. ※ In the case of university-industry cooperative education programs, which allow students to choose one among multiple degrees, more than half of the committee members shall have majored in the same discipline as the candidate. In addition, the committee chair shall be one of the committee members who hold a corresponding degree. |

Important notices when submitting dissertations
- Title of Dissertation If the title of dissertation (both in English and Korean) is changed, it shall be changed through the Comprehensive Information System for Professors → Education → Comprehensive Examination Management & Dissertation Research → Registration for Dissertation Proposal Examination Summary.
- ※Students who have acquired a Doctoral degree shall revise the title if any change occurs, as the dissertation title (both in English and Korean) is indicated on their degree certificate.
- After the commencement of the Dissertation Examination, examination fees shall not be returned.
